Intellectual Property Analyst – São Paulo – São Paulo

An experienced intellectual property analyst or lawyer with a chemistry or chemical engineering background who provides intellectual property support to research and development project teams and manages patent filings.

·English fluency, both spoken and written.

·Minimum of 3 years of experience as patent agent, intellectual property analyst, or patent lawyer in a Polymer or Petrochemical company or a law firm supporting such companies.

·B.S. or higher in chemical engineering, chemistry, plastic engineering, or a related field.

·Significant experience in drafting and prosecuting patent applications in the chemicals area.

·Experience in reviewing and responding to office actions before the patent office.

·Knowledge of international patent laws and regulations.

·Experience conducting patent searching and clearance analysis.

·Business awareness and curiosity to foresee potential intellectual property issues.

·Work with the R&D project team to develop an intellectual property protection strategy for each supported project.

·Oversee the preparation and filing of patent applications for new inventions related to thermoplastics, polyolefin catalysis, and related industrial processes.

·Manage the prosecution and maintenance of a portfolio of patents and patent applications.

·Perform patent clearance searches for new technology development.

·Develop patent freedom-to-operate, non-infringement and invalidity analysis.

·Instruct and monitor outside counsel prosecuting patents on the company’s behalf.

·Support to the R&D and Legal teams in the drafting of IP-related contracts such as non-disclosure agreements, joint development agreements, etc.

·Manage the analysis of competitive intelligence among relevant patent landscapes for potential enforcement and/or whitespace analysis.
